Ex-AUSD Custodian Charged After School District Safe Found Sledgehammered At His Home: Report
He was charged with burglary and possession of a concealed pistol following his arrest last month, according to an East Bay Times report.
ALAMEDA, CA — A former Alameda Unified School District custodian has been charged with burglary after being accused of stealing at least one safe from a district office, according to an East Bay Times report.
Oakland resident Paul Borg III, 24, was charged with one count of burglary stemming from the break-in and theft at an AUSD office on June 7, and two counts of possessing a concealed pistol from when he was arrested on June 23, according to the report, which cites court records.
Borg, who lost his job with the district in 2024, was caught on surveillance tape with one other unidentified person, breaking into the building and making off with two safes, according to the report.

When officers identified Borg as a suspect and searched his home, they found a safe that had been damaged by a sledgehammer and a blowtorch, according to the report.
