Alameda Man Sentenced To Federal Prison
Kenzo Mateo Tokuda will spend years behind bars.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — An Alameda man has been sentenced to 69 months in federal prison for possessing with intent to distribute the anti-anxiety drug Xanax and carrying a firearm for drug trafficking purposes, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Kenzo Mateo Tokuda, 24, of Alameda, pleaded guilty to those charges on May 21 and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam on Monday.
Prosecutors said that according to his plea agreement, on Aug. 10, 2017, Tokuda posted a photograph of alprazolam pills, commonly known as Xanax, on his social media account as a way to advertise that they were for sale.

Tokuda acknowledged in his plea agreement that he had about 540 "followers" to his social media account and he possessed both the pills and a 9mm pistol.
Tokuda conceded he possessed the pills with the intent to distribute them and he possessed the firearm for the purpose of protecting himself while he distributed the drugs, according to his plea agreement.

The government's sentencing memorandum says Tokuda came to law enforcement's attention in the spring of 2017 after he "flagrantly post[ed] photographs and videos of prescription drugs, marijuana, guns, and cash" to
his social media account.
In addition to the 69-month prison term, Gilliam sentenced Tokuda to a three-year period of supervised release.Prosecutors said Tokuda currently is in state custody on unrelated charges and will begin serving his sentence in federal prison after he's released from state custody.
