Alameda Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect
The arrest comes as police report an "uptick" in robberies and offer safety tips.
ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda Police detectives arrested an Alameda man in connection with an armed robbery that happened on July 18. The accused man's name has not been released. The case is now in the hands of the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.
The police department reports that in the last two weeks there has been a "slight" uptick in street-level robberies. As a result, they are offering safety tips to keep the holiday season jolly.
- Stay alert to your surroundings: Whether you’re out shopping or simply walking to your car, be aware of your surroundings. Park your vehicle in well-light areas.
- Remove valuables from your vehicles. Vehicle break-ins are typically a crime of opportunity. If you have any visible items left unattended. Your car is more likely to be the subject of a vehicle burglary.
- If you see something, say something. If you observe a person engaging in suspicious activity (peering into windows, checking door handles, etc.) or actively committing a crime, be a good witness and contact APD right away.
