Alameda Police Issue 143 Tickets In One Day

33 of those tickets were in school zones, the department reports, resulting in higher fines and more points on your license.

ALAMEDA, CA — Are you hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday? The Alameda Police Department has a subtle way of reminding you to drive slowly and cautiously while on the island.

Last Monday, the department focused on enforcement. The result:

  • 143 citations, including 33 in school zones
  • 2 drug-related arrests

School zone tickets in California are $99 for speeds up to 15 mph over the limit. Up to 25 mph over the speed limit gets you a $175 charge, and speeds over 25 are $350.
