Home Invasion Suspect Shot to Death by Off Duty Sheriff's Deputy: Police
A shelter-in-place order has been lifted but police are still asking residents to avoid the area.

ALAMEDA, CA — A home invasion suspect shot by an off-duty Contra Costa County Sheriff's Deputy has died, according to Alameda Police Lt. Jill Ottaviano. The search for a possible second suspect has been called off, after residents near the shooting were asked to shelter in place for several hours.
The 2000 block of Buena Vista Avenue remains closed as the "Crime scene is being processed by Alameda County," police said in a written statement. There is no estimate of when the street will reopen.
The deputy was not injured.
