Alameda Police Recover Stolen Vehicle, Arrest Woman

Police also recovered a stolen gun, burglary tools, drugs, and other items.

ALAMEDA, CA — The driver of a stolen vehicle was arrested in Alameda on suspicion of several crimes, and her companion was cited and released, Alameda Police said in a report.

An officer was paroling the South Shore Shopping Center after business hours recently when they noticed a vehicle driving suspiciously.

The vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Hayward, was stopped.

The female driver and a male passenger were detained as officers conducted an investigation.

A search of the vehicle turned up burglary tools, narcotics, drug paraphernalia, stolen license plates, debit cards, ID cards, and a loaded gun that had been reported as stolen out of Bakersfield.

The passenger was cited, while the driver was booked into the Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of multiple charges.

"Officers are currently contacting the victims of the stolen personal documents to notify them of their recovered property," Police said in the report. "Shout out to Officer Sipes for his attentiveness while on patrol and for helping make our island a better place to live, work, and play!"

Police remind everyone to watch their bank and credit card statements for signs of fraud.
