Alameda Police Warn of Scam

Have you been threatened with having your power turned off? Read this warning.

The Alameda Police Department is warning residents and business owners about a scam:

Residents and business are receiving calls stating AMP will turn off your power unless you pay your bill immediately. The person advises to call an 800 number and to use “re-load-it” which is a pre-paid card service. THIS IS A SCAM! AMP does not accept any type of pre-paid payment option, nor would it solicit payment and threaten your service. If you have any questions, please contact AMP @ 510-748-3902
