Alameda Residents from 2 Apartment Displaced by Fire Monday
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Alameda firefighters put out two separate fires on Monday afternoon, including one fire that left two apartments uninhabitable, fire officials said. The residents of the two apartments in the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue made arrangements to stay elsewhere, fire officials said.
When firefighters responded to that fire at 4:49 p.m., they found heavy smoke coming from a second-floor apartment window. Firefighters contained the blaze to a bedroom and the hallway of one apartment, but another apartment in the three-story building sustained smoke and water damage and was also left uninhabitable, according to the fire department. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Earlier in the day, firefighters responded to a clothes dryer that had caught fire in a home in the 2400 block of Roosevelt Drive. Firefighters responded at 3:04 p.m. and contained the fire to the laundry room, fire officials said. The fire was caused by a malfunction in the dryer. The home’s residents were not displaced. No injuries were reported in either fire, according to the fire department.
