Alameda Schools Offer Grief Counseling Following Student's Death
A 15-year-old football player collapsed and died following practice Tuesday.

ALAMEDA, CA - Alameda Unified School District expressed sadness today over the death of 15-year-old Oakland resident Giovanni Pulido, an Encinal Jr. & Sr. High School student who collapsed and died Tuesday following football practice.
"Our thoughts and our hearts are very much with this young man's family, friends, teammates, and classmates," said Superintendent Sean McPhetridge. "This is a deep loss to the Encinal community and our Alameda community at large."

Grief counselors are available to help Encinal students and staff.
The district is encouraging parents throughout Alameda to talk to their children about the passing. If parents or kids believe a student needs emotional support, ask their school to arrange for a meeting with a psychologist.
