The calendar was developed by a committee composed of staff from AUSD and members of the Alameda Education Association (AEA), which is the union that represents AUSD teachers and counselors.

After meeting several times, the committee agreed on two potential calendars. AEA members then voted on the calendars. At its Feb. 9 meeting, the Board of Education approved the same calendar that the majority of AEA voters had selected.
