Alameda Water: Do Not Drink Order Issued For Part Of Island

Tests have found the water unsafe to drink or to use for other household purposes. And protect your pets! Free bottled water. (Breaking)

ALAMEDA, CA — The City of Alameda has issued a Do Not Drink Alert for part of the island after the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) found evidence of non-drinkable/non-usable water in the Alameda Point drinking water system.

As a result, the City has instructed residents and businesses in the Alameda Point area:

  • Do not drink water from faucets
  • Do not use tap water for brushing teeth, washing dishes, cooking, or pets

This alert is in place for the next 48 hours, or until you receive a notification from the City of Alameda that the water is safe to use.

Bottled water is being provided free to those affected at the Alameda Point Collaborative Office, 677 W. Ranger Ave.

Crews are flushing the system. EBMUD is still working to identify the source of the contamination.
