Dear Friends & Neighbors,
We are preparing for Alameda’s 19th Annual Sing-It-Yourself Messiah performance. It will be held this year at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1420 Lafayette St. in Alameda, California on Saturday, December 14th, 2013 at 4:00pm. We will be presenting the Christmas Section and the Hallelujah Chorus of George Fredrick Händel’s Messiah Oratorio with chamber orchestra, soloists, harpsichord and organ.
Would you like (or need) a little 'refresher' run through on a part before the sing-along? Two open optional chorus rehearsals are offered on Saturdays, November 16th and 23rd at 4:00pm at Immanuel. Everyone is welcome, and a great way to prepare for the sing-along. If you don't need the preparation. just come on the 14th and renew your acquaintance with this inspirational oratorio. Bring a copy of The Messiah if you have one, and if you don't, a limited number of scores are on-hand to loan out.
The sing-along is free, however there will be a free-will offering taken to help offset the expenses of the event. Participants are also requested to bring canned or dry food items for donation to the Alameda Food Bank.
For further information, go to www.alamedasingityourselfmessiah.org, or call (510) 523-0659. A sing-along poster is also available on the website to post or hand out to family or friends. Please feel free to make more copies to include in your departments newsletter or weekly service bulletin.
Best of Holidays,
The Alameda’s Sing-It-Yourself Messiah Committee - 2013
