• Scam Alert: Fake City of Alameda Invoices (alamedapost.com) — Scammers are impersonating the City of Alameda’s Planning Commission and sending fake invoice emails that try to trick residents into wiring money. Officials urge you to verify any suspicious message by calling the Planning Department or APD directly, never sending personal or financial information by email or phone, and reporting any suspected scam using the city’s listed non-emergency numbers.    

• Tributes pour in for beloved muralist who adorned Oakland with animals, city scenes (mercurynews.com) — Alameda’s Pacific Pinball Museum is mourning longtime board member and muralist Dan Fontes, whose death from cancer has prompted tributes across the East Bay arts community. Fontes, remembered for Oakland’s iconic giraffe murals and work in Alameda homes and museums, used his large-scale public art to celebrate local history, nature, and neighborhood identity from Oakland to Concord and El Cerrito.
