Annual Classic Car Show Revs Up Park Street

Model T, Mustang, muscle cars — all on display Saturday on Park Street.

From a Park Street Business Association press release:

Get set for the 19th Annual Park Street Classic Car Show! More than 400 classic vehicles will be on display in Alameda’s historic downtown district on Saturday, October 13. The one-day event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is fun for the whole family. Food and raffle prizes will be available for purchase, and DJs will be spinning oldies from the '50s and the '60s.

Classic cars of every description will line four blocks of Park Street, from Encinal Ave to Buena Vista Ave. Most of the cars come from those magical decades -- the '50s and the '60s. But there will also be a variety of classic coupes from the '20s, '30s, and '40s, plus plenty of muscle cars from the '70s. Car enthusiasts can get a close-up view of Roadsters, Coupes, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, and Antique Trucks; Fords, Chevy’s, and Pontiacs; Corvettes, Impalas, Mustangs, and Model T’s.

According to a national representative of the Mustang Club of America, the Park Street’s Classic Car Show is “the best that he has ever seen.”

Duane Watson, who has been the event chair since its very first year says, “Bring your camera and don't be afraid to talk to the owners. They love to talk about their cars.”

In conjunction with the car show, Alameda Bicycle is hosting a Classic Bike show during the day. This is your chance to show off your low rider cruiser, vintage road bike, or any other bike you deem a classic. Prizes will be awarded.

Plan on spending an eventful afternoon in the Park Street Business District -- shop at the many boutiques and antique stores, eat at one of the 50+ restaurants and diners, catch a movie at the classic art deco style Alameda Theatre & Cineplex, and play a round of golf through a miniaturized version of the Bay Area’s most popular landmarks at the new Subpar Miniature Golf entertainment center.

Not only is the Classic Car Show a family-friendly event, but it is also a pet-friendly event. You’ll find pet watering stations at Dog Bone Alley (1342 Park Street) and Alameda See Spot Run (2510 Santa Clara Ave).

Free bike valet will be provided at the corner of Park Street and Webb Ave.

The Park Street Classic Car Show is hosted by the Crankers Car Club and is sponsored in part by Lee Auto Supply and the Park Street Business Association.
