Auto Theft Suspect Arrested In Alameda
The man was stopped as police were conducting a package theft undercover operation.

ALAMEDA, CA — A suspected car thief was arrested in Alameda and the stolen car, from Oakland, was recovered recently as police conducted a package theft undercover operation in an East End neighborhood, police reported last week.
A team led by Sgt. Darin Tsujimoto spotted a vehicle they believed was casing porches. This car had paper plates, which are now illegal, so officers conducted a stop on the car.
As one officer ran the vehicle's VIN number, another tried to find out the man's identity. He would only give his name verbally, and the information could not be confirmed during a records check.
