Bank Robbery Attempt Ends In Arrest

After receiving a robbery note, the teller activated a silent alarm and walked away.

ALAMEDA, CA — A cool head by a bank teller coupled with solid police work ended with an attempted bank robbery suspect in handcuffs. The robbery attempt happened Saturday morning in Alameda.

According to police, a man walked into a Chase branch on Otis Drive and passed a note at a teller window demanding cash. A silent alarm was activated and the teller stepped away from the window. The nervous suspect left the bank without any money.

Police officers who responded to the bank checked surveillance photos of the suspect and recognized him. Those officers sent the suspect images to patrolling officers who quickly located the suspect at the nearby South Shore Shopping Center.

Police say that witnesses positively identified the suspect in the field and he was arrested without incident.
