Artemis returns to the water
After months in the huge hangers of Alameda Naval bases ,Artemis today returned to the water .
Big Blue as shes been nicknamed marks a milestone for Artemis Racing .
The team has worked around the clock every hand on deck to return to America's Cup racing. One of only three boats challenging for a spot to go after the cup this September . Artemis has been plagued with set backs and the loss of a beloved crew member sailor and father Andrew Bart Simpson and its this loss that has driven them forward in his honor . Artemis hope to re enter the competition as soon as the end of this month in the Louis Vuitton Cup Semi Finals . Sailed right here on San Francisco Bay . The new goal is to learn this new foiling boats attitudes and become competitive they have never sailed a foiling AC72 they face a steep learning curve to say the least .
The boat and the team had to first pass some very rigorous load tests and submit them to Americas Cup Race Management , They have also implemented the 37 new racing recommendations that were enacted after their crash they have embraced these and are under the gun to making the starting line . Lets wish them all luck officially Alamedas hope in the America's Cup .
