Look Ma, I’m a Star!!

And the great news is you can be too at the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex!

I love the movies, always have, it’s the one place I can go and be completely swept away. From the time the previews start, which are like four or five extra movie treats to me, until the credits roll at the end, I’m not watching a movie, I’m in the movie! In February, accompanied by two fabulous seven year olds, I got to take it one step farther. Not only was I in the movie, I was Julie Andrews and the was alive with the Sound of Music

Waiting in line to by the tickets was as much fun as the show. Moms with their teen age daughters, ladies gathering together, even a few willing husbands lined up for the opportunity to sing-a-long with one of the best musicals ever made. Lots of jokes about whether everyone had been rehearsing and discussions of what song was everyone’s favorite – mine is “The Lonely Goatherd”, I mean really who doesn’t love a puppet show with yodeling to boot!!

We got our popcorn, found the perfect seats and settled in, waiting for that moment when you first see the Alps, complete silence, then you hear the winds and finally the infamous meadow, and there she is the music fades in and – ta da – the words come across the screen and everyone breaks into song, and I must say, we were fabulous!!

If you missed the opportunity to be Maria or the Captain, don’t be dismayed, you can still head out tonight, put on your poodle skirt, slick back your hair and show Olivia and John they’ve got nothing on you!! That’s right, whether its Beauty School Dropout or You Better Watch Out you’ll be the star of the show when you see Grease-A Sing-A-Long. So grab your kids, your friends or your spouse (if they’re willing!) and head for the theater tonight or Thursday and let yourself in on a real treat. Whether you choose to sing-a-long or not, c;mon you know you want to - you will not regret seeing this fun-filled film on the big screen. See ya at the movies!
