Update on Good Chevrolet Property

This is a follow-up post about the crumbling corner of Park and Lincoln, where Good Chevrolet once was and where the lovely Little Skating Rink was this past holiday season.

Just a couple of days after my last post, that property was fenced off. Perhaps just a coincidence, but I’d like to think it was my grassroots reporting that goaded someone into action. Because I don’t know any different, I’m happy to take credit.

At any rate, the fence is up — see the pics for yourself. I found a couple of notices taped to a light post informing the public of plans to demolish the existing property, as well as the permit for putting up the fence. I couldn’t find a date on either — no idea when they were taped to the pole. I wasn’t looking for them before — maybe they’ve been there for some time, but they look shiny, clean and new.

A lovely woman in the city’s Planning Office told me that the property is now owned by Foley Street Investments, LLC, a real estate development company with an office in Oakland, from what the internet tells me:  http://www.corporationwiki.com/California/Oakland/foley-street-investments-llc/47636897.aspx

She also told me that the Planning Board will be meeting next Monday evening (the 14^th) at 7 p.m. in Room 9B (council chambers at City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Ave.) to discuss the plans for that site, which will include artist renderings of the proposed development.

I have some ideas of what I'd like to see on that site — what would you want to have there? I hope we can have an outdoor skating rink again this winter before it’s redeveloped.
