I am writing this in regards to the vandalism at Wood Middle School reported Monday, June 18.
Not only did property of the school get vandalized but also the garden that many Wood Middle School students, teachers, PTA and eight Kohl’s volunteers (who gave us a generous grant towards the garden) worked on. The plants were torn up and thrown all over the campus.
This kind of behavior is very disappointing to me because a lot of the parents, teachers and staff have been working very hard this past school year to create a better environment at Wood Middle School.

It seems that most Alamedans gave up on Wood Middle School when the threat of closure was looming over the school. Now that the closure is a distant memory I can tell you that staff, parents and students are back with a vengeance. We will not let those that do not care about the community bring us down.
I am lucky enough that my kids understand that whoever did this vandalism was wrong. It was very disheartening to them, being some of the kids who worked on the garden. We will replant the garden!

If anyone wants to join us for the replanting of the Wood Middle School garden please email me at woodmiddleschoolpta@gmail.com. We plan to have a planting party sometime before school starts in August.
