Alameda Firefighters Extinguish Fire in Four-Unit Building

One woman was evacuated during the fire.

Firefighters extinguished a one-alarm fire this morning in a single-story four-unit building in Alameda, according to the Alameda Fire Department. The first report of the fire came in at 8:32 a.m. in the 700 block of Central Avenue, a fire dispatcher said. Fire Capt. James Colburn said no one was injured.

Firefighters evacuated a woman from a unit that was threatened by the fire. Crews kept the fire confined to one unit and extinguished it at 9 a.m., Colburn said. No one was home at the time of the fire, he said.

The cause and origin is under investigation, he said.
