Commercial Structure Fire in Alameda Extinguished Monday
Fire officials say the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

Firefighters extinguished a commercial structure fire in Alameda on Monday afternoon, fire officials said today. The blaze was reported at 1:06 p.m. Monday in the 1700 block of Park Street. Upon arrival, fire crews could see smoke coming from the roof of the building.
Firefighters entered to find fire surrounding an old skylight that had been covered by the existing roof. Fire and smoke was also found coming from two exhaust vents nearby, fire officials said. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and there were no reports of injuries.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. Workers had been using a heating element to install caps on rooftop vents and nearby combustible material caught on fire.
