BAY AREA — The CHP has announced that it will hold a DUI and driver's license checkpoint "somewhere within the Oakland area in Alameda of Alameda County" this Saturday night, the CHP said in a media advisory. The exact time and location has not been disclosed to the public.
The CHP said that an area with a high level of intoxicated drivers or unlicensed drivers will be targeted.
There is a high-visibility national enforcement campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, that starts Friday and runs through Labor Day. During this period, Police and Sheriff’s Departments statewide, in addition to the CHP, will increase the number of officers on the road to stop suspected drunk or drug impaired drivers and motorcyclists. If you are caught driving or riding impaired, you can be pulled over and arrested.
