Updated: Emma Hood Swim Center Reopens

The pools at Alameda High were closed Wednesday due to a faulty pump, but were open again on Friday.

Alameda High's Emma Hood Swim Center was closed Wednesday because of a faulty pump, but were fully functional on Friday.

“It took two days to repair and that’s pretty good,” said Dale Lillard, Alameda's Recreation and Park director, noting that the .

A technician came out Wednesday and managed to replace the mechanical device that pumps chlorine into the water, he said.

Lillard said the pool will open today in time for afternoon swim practice. On Friday, residents can expect the the pool to be open regular hours.

The pools were for failure to comply with state and federal safety regulations, and the city and school district have them open since.
