Art Exhibits at Main Library

Wendy Rabin will exhibit some of paintings in the Regina K. Stafford meeting rooms on the first floor. Plein Air painter and teacher Anthony Holdsworth will exhibit his paintings on the 2nd floor of the main library at 1550 Oak Street. The exhibits will be available to view from Sunday September 4 through Saturday October 1, 2011.

For many years, Anthony Holdsworth has worked on location in San Francisco and Oakland. Color theory and Perceptionism provide a foundation for his work. He weaves qualities of light throughout a painting to create interacting harmonies that compel attention and convey a mood. He has painted markets, cafes, office buildings, busy intersections, deserted corners and many other locations along with a variety of individuals who inhabit these landscapes. Anthony is also a gifted teacher who has painting classes at his studio in Oakland.

Local artist Wendy Rabin has had a lifetime interest in art and studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts (now California College of the Arts) and at the Leighton Studio in San Francisco. She has studied with a variety of Bay area art instructors including Luis Busta, Dennis Nolan, David Hardy, Marjery Lester Leighton and Alan McCorkle. Wendy has worked as a picture framer, and art restorer as well as being an oil-painter. Her work includes landscapes, portraits and inspirational art.
