IT FIGURES - Contemporary Art Dolls - OPENING NIGHT RECEPTION

OPENING RECEPTION THIS FRIDAY - 4 MAY 7 - 9 PM

IT FIGURES - ART DOLLS AND MIXED MEDIA

The FBCA is pleased to present a special exhibit celebrating the contemporary Art Doll as both object and symbol. Arguably one of our earliest art forms, dollmaking continues to hold a special place in cultures worldwide and, whether they're traditional Japanese Ichimatsu dolls, American corn husk dolls, ornate Sicilian marionettes or felt dolls sold today on Etsy, people of all ages continue to find them fascinating.

Alameda and the greater East Bay is home to a thriving artistic community focused on doll making and mixed media. Ten accomplished members of this community will be showing a wide variety of work, from the traditional to the abstract, including: Wanda Fudge, Donna Perry, Daisy Kiehn, Zanaib Nia Green, Suzanna Duran, Stephanie Smith, Bonnie Hoover, Kelly Mead, Laurie Scott, and Mary Porter Vaughan.

Dates: Friday, 4 May - Saturday, 30 June

Wine and appetizers served
