Open auditions: Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap”

Altarena Playhouse announces open auditions for Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, directed by Kim Saunders.

Auditions: January 23 & 24, 7-10 pm

Callbacks January 25, 7-10 pm

Appointments preferred: Please email mousetrap-auditions@altarena.org to make an appointment.  Send headshot and resume if possible. Please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue, and bring a headshot, resume and list of calendar conflicts.

Rehearsals begin January 30.

Performances Mar 16-Apr 22, Fri/Sat 8pm, Sun 2pm, Thurs Apr 19 (only) at 8pm.

Non-AEA, Stipend offered.
Auditions, most rehearsals, and all performances will be held at Altarena Playhouse, 1409 High Street, Alameda, CA 94501, convenient to public transportation.
Standard British required for all actors except Paravicini.

Character descriptions: ages listed are playable ages, not actual ages.

• Mollie Ralston: in her Mid 20s-30s. Recently married to Giles. Together they have started a guesthouse. She is a strong woman with a gentle soul and though she is determined to take the very best care of her guests, she is obviously in over her head.
• Giles Ralston: in his Mid 20s-30s. Married to Mollie, whom he loves and supports. He is fiercely protective of her and can be prone to jealousy.
• Christopher Wren: in his Mid 20s-30s. A flamboyantly outspoken young man.
• Mrs. Boyle: in her late 40s to early 50s. A critical older woman who is pleased by nothing she observes.
• Major Metcalf: mid 50s to early 60s. A kindly man who has long since retired from the military.
• Miss Casewell: in her 20s-30s. A strange, aloof, masculine woman.
• Mr. Paravicini: 40+ – A continental gentlemen, probably Italian. Roguish, charming and very mysterious.
• Detective Sergeant Trotter: in his mid 20s-30s. A handsome and caring policeman. He is meticulous as well as courteous in his investigation.
