Recycle Woman Movie: Free to the Public

"Recycle Woman" Community Event at Michaan Auction House Theater Local actor encourages attendees to make charitable contribution to attend free screening of the film and panel discussion

Alameda, Calif. – November 28th, 2011 - Local actor, model and environmental leader Jessica Robinson has organized a community event around a screening of her short film "Recycle Woman" at the Michaan Auction House Theater in Alameda this Saturday, December 3rd.

"Recycle Woman," which Ms. Robinson produced and stars in, raises awareness of environmental issues while empowering the community with the tools to address them.Last weekend, she premiered the film at the Alameda Theater. "This event will be more intimate," she said, "with food, and there will be an opportunity for people to discuss their opinions and have an open dialogue after the movie."

And just like last week, she's ditching the traditional red carpet for a green one. "I decided to make this a 'green carpet' event, instead of red, after the discovery of 'green carpets' being used to promote environmental awareness," she said. "I found a green carpet on the curbside while jogging with my dog in late February, went home, got my car, put it in my trunk and brought it home. I then learned from Tom Straus of Straus Carpet that they accept used carpets and recycle them. So, I traded in my curbside carpet at Straus, and they provided me a newly recycled green carpet for my event."

The newly recycled Mohawk Green Works carpet was donated by Straus Carpets, of Oakland, California. More than 500 Mohawk products contain recycled materials and they can recycle and recover 90% of the entire waste stream and materials. One out of four recycled plastic bottles in North America are transformed into Mohawk Everstrand residential carpeting.
