The Alameda PTA Council would like to thank Alameda South Shore Center for their ongoing support of Alameda’s schools and invite the Alameda Community to the Holiday kick off events happening this Friday starting at 11:00 a.m.
First grade students from Otis Elementary will decorate the Christmas Tree with Santa in Center Court with artwork they in classes through the Decorate South Shoe Center Program. This program works with local Alameda PTA units, bringing much needed art supplies and thematic art instruction to elementary students through school site art docent programs. The art created in this program is then on display at Alameda South Shore Center throughout the holiday season. Paden & Bay Farm’s Day Classes created art work displayed in the Harvest Moon Festival and the pumpkin patch at Halloween. Be sure to look for art by Haight and Lum on display in December.
In addition to supporting art in Alameda’s schools, the Alameda PTA Council would like to recognized the ongoing efforts Alameda South Shore Center has made to support Alameda schools through its partnership with the Alameda Education Foundation. Not only was AEF able to collect over $3000 in donated school supplies for Alameda’s homeless students, South Shore Center continues to support AEF and will donate a % of funds raised at the Black Friday’s Holiday activities at Alana’s Face Painting and Peter’s Kettle Corn so be sure to stop by these stands.
