Wilderness First Aid is ideal for outdoor recreation enthusiasts, camp staff, remote site workers,
and travelers who either work or play away from medical facilities. It is also helpful for those who may be involved in disaster situations where advanced medical care is delayed for hours or days. The course is valid for BSA high adventure requirements and certification.
Course Format
The Wilderness First Aid class is a fast paced two day course, with 8 hours of instruction each day. The course is based on short lectures, labs, and realistic
practice scenarios. Students are provided with ample opportunity to master the central concepts and skills of wilderness medicine and the confidence to use it
in a real setting.
If you have CPR/AED training bring your certificate. If you don’t, you will be certified as a part of the class.
Payment options $125 with $30 going to the AFD CERT program.
Class size is limited and early reservations for the course are recommended to insure adequate material availability. TO REGISTER :

Bio Randy Lantz is a disaster response volunteer
for a law enforcement division of an OES wilderness search and rescue team and organizer and advisor of a co-educational youth SAR team. He is passionate about
wilderness survival and particularly Wilderness First Aid. He has taught CPR and professional level CPR and AED programs for police, medical, Search and Rescue
professionals. He has served as a disaster preparedness coordinator and supervisor of a statewide bomb and chemical disposal unit. He has worked as an EMT-B and supervised a multi-tiered medical response program with police, fire, and emergency medical units. He has experience in special operations and was a
team lead with an airborne Chemical, Biological and Nuclear response team. He has taught first aid, CPR, officer survival and a variety of technical
specialties associated with his work at a large research and
development facility.
