Firefighters Extinguish Fires at Adjacent Homes

Fire officials said both homes sustained severe damage, displacing the residents of the homes.

Firefighters extinguished fires at adjacent single-family homes in Alameda Sunday evening, Alameda Fire Department officials said. The first report of a house on fire came in at 6:23 p.m. in the 100 block of Norwich Road, fire Capt. James Colburn said.

Firefighters called for a second alarm when the second home caught fire, he said. Firefighters had the blaze at the first home knocked down at 7:06 p.m. and the one at the second home at 7:27 p.m., he said. The fire was brought under control by 7:33 p.m., Colburn said.

Both homes sustained severe damage, displacing the residents of the homes, he said. Each family found a temporary place to stay with family members or friends, he said. No civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident, Colburn said.
