Friday Night Classical Series: Les Violettes

A thrilling new series of classical concerts takes place on Friday nights this spring at Rhythmix Cultural Works

Moms rule! Aspects of motherhood in Baroque music, with works by Heinrich Biber, Henry Purcell and Jacob van Eyck, and featuring the secular cantate françoise“Médée” by Louis-Nicolas Clérambault.

The members of Les Violettes met while pursuing graduate studies at the Early Music Institute at Indiana University. The ensemble has performed at Napa’s Festival del Sole, Berkeley’s Barefoot Chamber Concerts series, the San Francisco Early Music Society series “Sundays at California Jazz Conservatory,” the Berkeley Early Music Festival, and concerts in Berkeley and Grgich Hills Estate in Rutherford, California. Although Les Violettes performs a variety of Baroque repertoire with great enjoyment, its members admit to a particular love of the music of Buxtehude.
