Going Solar? AMP to Consider Solar Program at Monday's Meeting
The new program is expected to go into effect Sept. 1. Compare the details to see if you want to go solar before or after the change.

Alameda, CA - Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) heard you loud-and-clear when you said that you were interested in solar programs.
At Monday's meeting, the utility board will consider a proposed eligible renewable generation (ERG) program designed to be the long-term successor to the current net energy metering (NEM) program.
ERG Program Details
The program would:
- Allow customers to receive a credit for all excess electricity sent to AMP’s distribution system. The proposed fiscal year 2017 credit is $0.07 per kWh.
- Eliminate the requirement for the EG meter and any associated customer generation information on AMP’s billing system.
- Include an interconnect fee to offset the cost of application reviews.
- Minimize cost shifting to non-participant customers.
NEM Capacity Value
The current NEM program will remain available to new customers until AMP reaches the NEM capacity value of 3.6 MW. Once AMP reaches that capacity value, the ERG program would become the sole interconnection option for new customers.

Customers subscribed in the NEM program will receive all the benefits of the NEM program for 20 years from original interconnection date.
If the Board approves the ERG program, it will go into effect on September 1.
