The Alameda Police officer was out of town and off-duty, but sprang into action when needed.

ALAMEDA, CA — An Alameda Police Officer is being hailed as a hero after saving a woman from a fiery car accident last Thursday. He was off-duty and out of Alameda when the crash happened.
According to a social media post from the Alameda Police Department, Officer Russ Wise "was traveling with his wife on Highway 12, when a vehicle attempted to pass a truck and crossed over double yellow lines causing a head on collision."
The officer pulled over and immediately went into life-saving mode. Wise "saw one vehicle was leaking fluid and the driver was trapped. Ofc Wise pulled that driver from the car moments before it burst into flames, probably saving her life."
