"Hero" Security Guard Helps Recover Stolen Gun In Alameda

ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda Police credit a security guard with getting a stolen gun off the streets.

At 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Alameda police officers were sent to Shorepoint Court after a caller reported a disturbance that included a gun.

The caller, identified as the security guard, stayed on the phone with police dispatchers as patrol officers took the person into custody who had been seen brandishing the gun.

"We would like to applaud the heroism displayed by the security guard who instinctively helped a fellow community member in need," the police department said in a social media post. "Your act of compassion and diligence help make Alameda a safer place to live, work, and play."
