How Cool Can a Frozen Gelato Bar Be?

Pretty cool, when it's powered by Alameda-made St. George single malt whiskey

Frozen treats on a stick have come a long way from Popsicle™ days.

Take, for example, a flavor recently introduced by Gelateria Naia: Single Malt Whiskey. Along with the milk, sugar, cream, eggs, carob flour and caramel that go into this Bar Gelato is a dollop of single malt whiskey from , the artisan distillery at Alameda Point.

The more or less whiskey-colored bars sell for $1.99 each at Whole Foods stores in the Bay Area. Other, perhaps more kid-friendly flavors are available too.

Naia describes its product as handmade premium gelato, a traditional frozen dessert that is made mainly from milk rather than cream, in bar form.

Wine and liquor-flavored frozen pops are becoming more and more popular. Read more about them in this article from Inside Bay Area.
