Alameda’s Historic Webster Street Kicks Off Summer with a Bang
Alameda, CA – May 18, 2018 – The Alameda Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the 2018 ISLAND JAM, Alameda’s premier family fun event, will kick off the summer June 16 and 17, continuing its Father’s Day tradition of fun for the whole family. Dad’s Day takes center stage along Alameda’s historic Webster Street with five full blocks of Carnival Rides, Arts & Crafts, International Food Favorites, Live Music and our newly expanded Thirsty Island Tiki Bar.

“There’s so much to experience at the 2018 Island Jam, it will take both days to take it all in”, said Michael McDonough, president of the Alameda Chamber of Commerce. “The Alameda Chamber of Commerce Island Jam combines the best of entertainment attractions to give Dad two full days of Fun for the Whole Family.”
Live music on three stages will feature David Martin’s House Party, Beatles Tribute Band, Hey Jude, and Jimmy Buffett tribute band, License to Chill. Additional highlights will include music from Third Sol, Mas Mojo and The Black Rock Project and live DJ’s from Cage+Aquarium. Island Music from IMUA Live and Flow Control will be the icing on the cake of two full days of electrifying entertainment.

Foodies will be in taste bud heaven with this year’s lineup of international culinary pleasures. Come ready to eat your way down the street with entre options including Seafood, Poke, BBQ, Greek, Teriyaki and Mexican foods. Then satisfy your Sweet Tooth with delectable bites on every block.
The Twisted Taco Chef Competition brings an exciting new live streaming experience to the 2018 ISLAND JAM. This is your chance to be the judge. Take a bite out of each chef’s “out of the ordinary” taco creation and vote for your favorite twist on the traditional taco.
Thirsty fairgoers can choose from a variety of beverages produced locally at Alameda Point. We are proud to offer a variety of beers from Faction Brewing and Alameda Island Brewing, as well as, wine from local favorites, Rock Wall Wine Company and spirits from Alameda’s own St. George Spirits. We’re keeping it all in the family!
“The Island theme and county fair atmosphere distinguishes the Island Jam from other ho-hum street fairs”, said Mark Sorensen, the Chamber’s Executive Director. “We’ve upgraded the experience to attract thousands of fair-goers from all over the Bay Area who long for the sights and sounds of the Islands.”
Carnival rides, the Kid’s Play Zone, boardwalk games, Live music, Thirsty Island Tiki Bar, International Food favorites, local libations, double the arts and crafts booths and more promise to make this a Father’s Day event you’ll never forget.
