K-9 Veterans Memorial Dedicated At Coast Guard Base: Photo
The memorial was dedicated earlier this year.

ALAMEDA, CA — Coast Guard Base Alameda held an official ribbon cutting ceremony for the K-9 Veterans Memorial on March 13, which is K-9 Veterans Day. A plaque commemorates the first Coast Guard K-9 veteran. It reads, "In honor and remembrance of all Coast Guard K-9 teams" while also telling the story of the first team during World War II.
Coast Guard dignitaries and local officials attended the event.
According to the Coast Guard Foundation, Vice Admiral Andrew Tiognson, commander of the Coast Guard’s Pacific Area, described the Coast Guard's working military dogs as our "four-legged force-multipliers, and in many ways, our best friends."
