OAKLAND, CA — A man was fatally shot in West Oakland on Wednesday evening, police said.
Officers who responded to reports of a shooting in the 3100 block of West Street at 7:18 p.m. Wednesday found the man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

Oakland police said their investigation into the shooting is ongoing and anyone who has information about it is asked to contact their homicide unit at (510) 238-3821.
