Nea CLC to Host Series of Girls Leadership Workshops
Daughters & parents invited to participate in empowerment workshops held at Nea in November 2015 and January 2016

Alameda, CA – October 6, 2015 — For over ten years, Girls Leadership has awakened thousands of girls to a new, bold definition of leadership. A national nonprofit co-founded by author, educator and coach, Rachel Simmons, Girls Leadership believes that leadership begins in girlhood.
“Our workshops help girls become young women with integrity, self-awareness and personal authority,” said Simmons. “It’s about knowing yourself – how you feel, what you think and what you need, and the ability to act on who you are in your relationships,” Simmons said.
Nea Community Learning Center, located at 1900 Third Street in Alameda, will host the series of three parent/guardian and daughter workshops, targeted towards particular grade levels. Each workshop is 60 -120 minutes long (depending on grade level), and held once weekly, for four weeks. The workshops are open to the public, but limited to the first 15 adult/girl pairs that register. Costs for the workshops range from $180 – $280 per participant pair, with scholarships available (visit www.girlsleadership.org/scholarships for details).

“Nea’s culture of educational and personal empowerment is right in line with the goals of the Girls Leadership workshops, so it’s a perfect complement to our program,” said Annalisa Moore, Nea’s Lead Facilitator (principal). “Girls and their parents will have the opportunity to bond and learn skills that create healthy relationships and build personal resilience in a safe and fun environment – it doesn’t get any better than that,” Moore said.
