Nea Welcomes Moore as Permanent Leader

Staff and school community thrilled with Annalisa Moore's recent appointment as permanent Lead Facilitator of Nea Community Learning Center.

Community Learning Center Schools (CLCS), management organization for Nea and Alameda Community Learning Center public charter schools, has announced the permanent appointment of Annalisa Moore as Lead Facilitator (Principal) of Nea Community Learning Center (Nea).

The CLCS Board appointed Moore as Nea’s Interim Lead Facilitator in April of 2014, following the departure of former Nea Lead Facilitator and founder, Maafi Gueye. Before serving in the Interim role, Moore was Nea’s Assistant Lead Facilitator, and has over a decade of administrative experience in local public schools including Dean of Students at the Academy of Alameda and Manager for Academic Support and Enrichment Services with the Alameda Unified School District.

While the CLCS Board had planned a nationwide search for Nea’s permanent Lead Facilitator, the group was swayed by Executive Director Patti Wilczek’s recommendation to appoint Moore and the passionate outpouring of support for Moore by Nea educators and staff.

“In the interim role, Annalisa has repeatedly proven herself to be an effective, innovative and graceful leader with an extraordinary team-building capacity,” said Wilczek.

“Despite the extremely challenging circumstances of the past year – taking over after a long-term leader’s sudden departure, moving and merging two campuses, overhauling and upgrading Nea’s high school curriculum, along with completing Nea’s first WASC accreditation, Annalisa has created an overwhelmingly positive learning community and culture. It was an incredible testing ground to determine if she was the right leader for the long run,” said Wilczek.

The CLCS Board unanimously supported Moore’s appointment as Nea Lead Facilitator at its meeting on January 22, and the Nea Board unanimously followed suit in its January 28 meeting, citing Moore’s strength of leadership, vision and exemplary performance.

“Our school community is thrilled with Annalisa’s appointment,” said Wilczek. “In their presentation to the CLCS Board, the entire Nea staff eloquently and emphatically stated their support of her – a vote of confidence doesn’t get any better than that,” said Wilczek.
