NorCal Murder Suspect Caught In East Bay: Police

The man is accused of killing his roommate.

OAKLAND, CA — A 20-year-old Northern California man suspected of killing his roommate was taken into custody in Oakland Thursday, police said.

Police say Michael Ward shot and killed his roommate, 24-year-old Davion Calvin, inside their Vacaville apartment on Monday morning.

A motive for the shooting has yet to be publicly revealed. Ward fled the scene of the shooting and was later found in Oakland, police said.

He was taken into custody in connection with Calvin's slaying. It's unclear how police tracked Ward down in Oakland or where he was located.

"Since the incident, detectives have worked diligently to ensure those responsible are held accountable," the Vacaville Police Department said in a statement Thursday afternoon. "This arrest reflects VVPD’s commitment to pursuing justice for Davion Calvin and providing answers to his family."
