Listen guys, it isn't really necessary to play that pounding, bass-heavy music under everything on the P.A. I mean, really, you need to play it under the four seconds the guy introduces the new pitcher? It just makes it harder to hear the announcer. I don't understand that.
And so freakishly loud. The game was sold out, so my friend and I got to the park early, and had to sit through 45 minutes during which time one had to SHOUT JUST TO BE HEARD BY THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU. Rough on the throat after a while. And the acoustics of the Coliseum are just ideal for bass-heavy house music, aren't they?
Don't get me wrong, I like loud music, especially in a place like the Coliseum. I'm a Dead Head, for pity's sake; I've seen the Who there, and Pink Floyd twice. But, y'see, that's when I was there for the music. I mean, if in the middle of "Wish You Were Here" someone had started up a baseball game, it would've seemed inappropriate. Similarly, when I go to a ball game, I'm there to spend a pleasant afternoon with my friends, which (like most of us, I suspect) typically includes engaging in conversation, or listening to the pre-game show on the radio or several other things that one CANNOT DO WHEN THE MUSiC ON THE P. A. IS SO FRAKKING LOUD. (Please note I'm not saying no music, just not at conversation-killing levels.)
Oh, and how about some open wi-fi access? This is the Overstock.com "O.co Coliseum", and one of your big sponsors is Comcast (I hear the wi-fi at AT&T Park is quite good; I'll find out in August). I went through almost 100MB of data using the "MLB At Bat" app this afternoon; c'mon, it's 2014, have you heard?
Play ball.
