One Dead In Freeway Shooting In Oakland

OAKLAND, CA — A homicide investigation prompted the closure of multiple lanes of westbound Interstate Highway 80 near the Bay Bridge toll plaza in Oakland for hours Thursday.

The California Highway Patrol has put out limited information about the case, which shut down four lanes of westbound Highway 80 west of West Grand Avenue starting at about 9:15 a.m.

According to multiple reports, a woman was shot and killed.

Alameda County sheriff's Sgt. Ray Kelly confirmed deputies responded to a homicide case at the request of the CHP, but could not provide any other details.

The lanes had reopened as of shortly after noontime, according to the CHP.
