Pedestrian Killed by Bus Was Alameda Resident
The victim was hit by an AC Transit bus Thursday.

The pedestrian who died in Alameda Thursday evening when an AC Transit bus struck him has been identified as 78-year-old Sam Sause.
Emergency personnel responded to the collision at Otis Drive and Grand Street around 5:45 p.m.
AC Transit spokeswoman Clarence Johnson said a bus traveling east on Grand Street, turned left onto Otis Drive and struck Sause, an Alameda resident.

Police and fire responded to the area and the intersection was closed for several hours due to the collision.
The involved bus and driver were taken out of service and bus service in the area was rerouted around the collision, Johnson said.

Alameda police Captain Joe McNiff said the department’s major accident investigation team is looking into the incident.
“It’ll be a few days before we’re ready to say whether there will be any criminal charges,” McNiff said.
