Police Seek Leads In Fruitvale Shooting

The victim was shot multiple times in the back as he walked home from work Oct. 13.

OAKLAND, CA – Oakland police said Thursday that they are asking for the public's help in solving a shooting in the city's Fruitvale district in October.

Police said the victim was walking home from work at Fruitvale Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at about 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 13 when a suspect walked up from behind and shot him several times in the back.

Investigators said they aren't sure what the motive was for the shooting, and they are asking the community to provide information to help them solve the case.

Police said the intersection of Fruitvale Avenue and Foothill Boulevard is a busy area and is surrounded by mixed commercial and residential buildings.

Although officers and investigators have interviewed witnesses at the scene, police said they are encouraging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen it to contact them.

Oakland police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.
