Resident Escapes Alameda Fire

Firefighters were met with flames and smoke in the kitchen when they arrived.

ALAMEDA, CA — No one was injured in an Alameda house fire Thursday night. ONe person was able to escape the flames before firefighters arrived.

The fire was reported at 7:35 p.m.

"First-arriving crews found smoke and fire in the kitchen of a single-story dwelling," the fire department reports in a written statement. "Firefighters pulled pre-connected hose lines while other crews ventilated the structure. The fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes. Damaged was confined to two rooms."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The woman who lived at the home is staying with a friend, according to the fire department.
