RV Fire Sends Thick Black Smoke Into Sky Near I-880 In Oakland

OAKLAND, CA — Oakland firefighters are battling a large vehicle fire under I-880, the fire department said.

An RV caught fire Monday afternoon at 5th Avenue and East 8th Street, the Oakland Fire Department said. The fire cause a large plume of dark smoke visible from I-880.

There is no threat to structures of neighbors, and the flames did not reach any freeway infrastructure. There are no traffic alerts on I-880 as of 2:10 p.m. Monday.
