Hello All! I just wanted to introduce myself properly before I start blogging.
For as long as I can remember, I have been all about decorating. Instead of playing with the dolls in my doll house I would rearrange their furniture. I’m pretty sure my parents had to refinish the floor of my bedroom after I left home because a third grader pushing a huge brass bed across the room usually leaves a mark. And over the past 5 years, I’ve lived in about 6 different places (and just HAD to redesign every time). I’ve lived in a brand new town home, a slew of apartments in older buildings and even a remodeled condo in a 100 year old building.
Finally, I decided maybe I should decorate for a living so I’m launching a Staging and Redesign business (See Jane Design) that serves Alameda and the East Bay.

If I had to describe my personal style, it’s more eclectic than anything. If it’s vintage, I want it. My husband and I moved to Alameda from Chicago last year and brought only what we could fit into a Honda Civic (hint: not much) so we had to start over from scratch furniture-wise (our dog was very upset). Luckily we found an AMAZING consignment shop on Alameda called Urban Island and we’ve refurnished pretty much our entire home from that store (with Ikea, Salvation Army and my neighbor’s trash featured minimally). It’s starting to look more and more like home. Ideally I would like to focus on vintage-vibe redesign in older homes because that’s what really speaks to me, but I’m fully capable of doing all sorts of styles (one of our homes was definitely more “modern”).
Other than watching HGTV and trolling Pintrest and Houzz for ideas, I love watching SciFi shows with my husband (Eureka, Firefly, and Warehouse 13 are favorites) and cuddling with my dog, who looks just like Baxter from Anchorman. I grew up in mid-Missouri, but I am loving the Bay Area. The weather, the homes and the people really make me feel like I’m home.
