Several Alameda Schools Locked Down Thursday

Elementary and high schools, along with a child development center were inpacted.

Several Alameda Unified School District schools were locked down for about a half hour today beginning at 11:45 a.m., according to school district spokeswoman Susan Davis.

The issue began when it was reported that someone with a weapon was in the neighborhood of Encinal High School. It went on immediate lockdown and police were called.

Paden Elementary, Ruby Bridges Elementary, Island High, and the Woodstock Child Development Center also went into lockdown as a precautionary measure.

Alameda Police continue to investigate the incident. No arrests have been announced.
